Respect

My definition of respect is a mutual understanding and appreciation and support for everyone's life experience, perspectives, and backgrounds. All of these things may change for individuals over time, yet that's the great thing about life. Enjoy, appreciate it, and celebrate it!

So I just saw an amazing documentary and I have another image. If it is too late, no matter, but I was feeling very inspired and a great deal of reverence for this woman so I thought I would send i any way.

Called my friend jokie in san Francisco to thank him for his work on fighting proposition 8.

He’s out there protesting today.

Respect is going before someone to help or assist or whatever.
It is to take the initiative before being asked.
It is not assuming and being open to change.
It is inspiring and supporting different learning styles without agenda and with a lot of patience.
It is listening with your heart.

Respect has great importance in everyday life. As children we are taught (one hopes) to respect our parents, teachers, and elders, school rules and traffic laws, family and cultural traditions, other people's feelings and rights, our country's flag and leaders, the truth and people's differing opinions.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T. --as the "Queen of Soul" would say it, should mean take care of your personal business first, and as Spike might put it "Do the right thing". I lean towards the golden rule "do unto others and you would have them do unto you".

Respect - something I offer people at the onset - something I've earned through age and experience and credentials - deferring to our elders - listening - being humble - something parents don't get for nothing - they need to earn it - parents need to respect their kids - artists need to respect each other and honor each other's work -
